Difference between dating and a girlfriend

But, trust me, both these things have their own essence and at times, dating becomes the first step of a great relationship. You must be thinking that even dating is mutual, isn't it? But, the major difference is that when you are dating a person, even though the date is mutual, what's going on in your head is not.Isn't the person you are dating the same person that you are in a relationship with? Even though relationship and dating are two sides of the same coin, the fact that they have n-number of differences cannot be denied.

Also, this isn’t to say that a woman won’t ever have “girlish” or immature tendencies or vice versa.

This post refers to one’s maturity and most points would also apply if you switch the genders as well.

Again, many points on this post would apply if you switched the genders around. I’m referring to maturity, life vision and stage of life.

In fact, some people regardless of their age, will never really grow up.

When you are simply dating a person you won't give them all your time as you will still remain busy in prioritizing people and career in your life, whereas, when you are in a relationship, your prime focus will be just one person with whom you will feel like spending all your time.

Then you won't have to check your list of priorities because you will know that any day, on your priority list, your love will be on the top.

For instance, during conversation, he might say "I like to do XYZ with my girlfriend..the girl I'm dating..."In the big scheme of things, it's not a big deal - but I am curious. No reason to bring it up if things are going well and there isn't a concern that he's seeing other people anyways. Or did he say or do something to make you think he isn't as serious as you are?

Before I ask him his thoughts, I am looking for opinions on whether you guys make this distinction yourselves. Holy crap that's a whole lot of mess tied up with the definition of labels. I've had the discussion many times but to be honest I don't think I've ever actually used the term "mutually exclusive" outside of these message boards. Talk things out with him I treat those as the same thing..
